Social Dinner Club

Interested SAIL members are assigned to a dinner group, then each group determines when and where to meet for dinner in one of the many interesting restaurants in Shepherdstown. Participants are really enjoying this new way to get to know fellow SAILers!

For more information, or to sign up for this activity, contact Deb Tucker at debmtucker@gmail.com

Brown Bag Lunch

All SAIL members are welcome at these monthly meetings held at 11:30 AM on the third Friday of each month in the Fellowship Hall of Trinity Episcopal Church. It is a very informal setting where members bring their own lunch and SAIL provides beverages, fruit, and dessert. Members have the opportunity to meet and greet other SAIL members, and there is a short presentation/discussion on some topic of general interest. Watch the calendar for information on the presenter and topic of the month.

There is parking in the alley behind the accessible building. Doors open at 11:30 for socializing and eating. The program begins about 12:00.  Attendees usually leave by 1 PM. For those who prefer not to attend in person, or when circumstances do not allow for in-person meeting, a Zoom link will be sent out close to the meeting date.

Intergenerational communication opportunity

Each spring, Dr. Heidi Dobish, professor at Shepherd, invites  SAILers to join in discussions with her Psychology of Aging students.  The discussions take place over zoom.  Dr. Dobish creates breakout rooms for small group conversations around such topics as stereotypes, ageism - language and behaviors, social interactions across environments, isolation, quest for meaning, and self-care.  The conversations are always popular and yield new insights both for the students and for SAILers.
